Growing sustainable fruits in Türkiye
The Netherlands strongly believes that the key to improving the soft fruit sector in Türkiye, is investing in the whole value chain, from seeds to sales. The value chain is only as strong as its weakest link. To prevent food waste and maximize profits, it is crucial to invest in good quality throughout the entire food chain. Investing in consistent quality throughout this chain is essential to minimize food waste, boost reputation, retain customers, and ultimately increase profits. Furthermore, this approach promotes sustainable food production and distribution, benefiting both businesses and the environment.
Collaboration is key
To facilitate collaboration with the Turkish sector, the Netherlands has set up the public-private cluster Holland House of Fruits. With Türkiye's soft fruit industry still developing across various aspects, the Netherlands brings expertise in modern, tasty and high-yielding varieties and smart solutions regarding cultivation and post-harvest technologies. Through the Partners for International Business (PIB) program, the Dutch cluster collaborates to provide a one-stop-shop aimed at elevating Türkiye's fruit and berry sector, positioning themselves as a reliable source for innovative solutions in plant cultivation, post-harvest techniques, and trade.
