Field report: feeding Colombia's cities

About 80% of Colombia's population lives in cities. To meet the urban demand for high-quality, healthy, sustainable food is no easy feat for Colombia's horticulture sector. The Hortifuturo initiative aims to support Colombian horticulture to become more sustainable and competitive.

The Hortifuturo project is an initiative from the Netherlands Embassy in Bogotá, supported by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

Agricultural advisor Andrés Santana and agricultural attaché Leontine Léontine Crisson explain how the embassy aims to contribute to further development of the horticulture sector in Colombia through knowledge transfer and capacity building. Their ultimate aim? To strengthen formal economies and to create jobs and opportunities both in Colombia and across borders.
